Have you recently moved from all-volunteer to a newly staffed organization? Or are you just beginning to fully involve and engage your board? Environmental and conservation nonprofits often mature in a predictable path of four phases: Volunteer Based, "The Leap" (Hiring Staff), Shared Governance, and Institutional.

Join ICL for this opportunity to analyze your organization's development and growth. Gain a practical framework, based on ICL’s popular "Four Stages and Four Challenges of Organizational Development" article, to analyze your organization's development over time, understand challenges that may lie ahead for your board, and get tips for overcoming barriers to board effectiveness at each stage.

Level: Introductory or refresher.

In this 60-minute audio conference you will gain a better understanding of the board's roles in relation to your organization's stage of development.

By the end of the audio conference you will be able to:

  • Discuss four stages of organization development;
  • Identify what stage your organization is in now and what that means for your board; and
  • Review a tool to help you develop next steps for overcoming challenges.
