ICL Evaluation Internship

The intern/volunteer will help us more effectively measure the impact of ICL's work to strengthen leaders, organizations, and networks or coalitions that protect the Earth. By analyzing existing data and developing and implementing new tools and processes, the intern will have the opportunity to lead a critical project that will contribute to environmental organizations’ success in protecting the Earth and human health by improving ICL’s work to strengthen them.

Scope of Work:
The scope of the project will depend on the time and duration of the internship/volunteer availability. Skills and experience required:

  • Research methods, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Program evaluation
  • Strong writing ability to analyze and synthesize information
  • Excel and SurveyMonkey.com

The scope of the intern’s/volunteer’s project may include:

  • Analyzing the impact of ICL’s programs and services (distance learning, custom services, and signature intensive programs) and developing organization-wide measures of success; or
  • Analyzing the impact of ICL’s work in a particular geographic region where a wide variety of services has been offered over a period of years; or
  • Analyzing the impact of ICL’s work through one of our signature intensive programs over a period of years.

Tasks may include:

  1. Organizing data; reviewing program goals and action plans if available;
  2. Reviewing data with ICL’s program team;
  3. Developing tracking protocols to facilitate evaluation reporting in grant proposals and reports; and
  4. Developing and piloting tools and processes that improve evaluation data, including long-term impact data.

Depending on time and availability, other tasks may include:

  • Research resources for ICL’s e-newsletter
  • Conduct internet research on facilities and constituent/organization information
  • Assist with foundation and donor mailings
  • Participate in program organization (making materials, triaging registrations, etc)
  • Database data entry
  • Make phone calls to organizations/individuals and update contact database (outreach in grant areas)
  • Participate in outreach activities for ICL’s one-day workshops, audio conferences, and webinars
  • Assist with Facebook updates
  • Compile workshop and program evaluation data to present in the organization's performance dashboard

Time Commitment: 15-20 hours per week or as arranged with the candidate.
