ICL General Administrative Internship/Volunteer Position

The intern/volunteer will help the staff of the Institute for Conservation Leadership (ICL) plan and implement training programs for leaders of environmental organizations and support marketing and outreach through standard as well as social media tools. The intern/volunteer also will assist with other activities as needed, such as phone interviewing, research, and coordinating contact updates in our database.

Scope of Work:
The scope of the work will depend on the time and duration of the internship/volunteer availability. Skills and experience required:

  • Writing and editing proficiency
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information
  • Familiarity with social media tools such as Facebook
  • Proficiency in website maintenance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Database familiarity


Tasks include:

  1. Gather organizational development data for environmental groups
  2. Research potential training sites and contact facilities for full details
  3. Assist with the development and mailing of training materials
  4. Tabulate workshop evaluation forms and write evaluation summary based on the results
  5. Assist with Facebook updates
  6. Research partner organization activities that might be of interest to ICL constituents through Facebook
  7. Assist with the mailing of marketing materials
  8. Assist with website updates
  9. Assist with research and updating ICL constituent’s email addresses via phone calls to organizations and individuals

Other tasks may include:

  • Research resources for ICL’s e-newsletter
  • Participate in program organization (assembling materials, triaging registrations, etc.)
  • Participate in outreach activities for ICL’s one-day workshops, audio conferences, and webinars
  • Assist with foundation and donor mailings
  • Compile workshop and program evaluation data to present in the organization's performance dashboard

Time commitment: 15-20 hours per week or as arranged with the candidate.
