Stacy Baker, MSEd, Program Associate, joined ICL in 2008 and enjoys managing ICL initiatives, leading trainings, and using tested tools to help environmental and conservation nonprofits have a greater impact. Stacy brings to her ICL work over 15 years of organizational effectiveness, consulting, and field experience in the public health arena. She is recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts on performance management and quality improvement in the public health field. During her nine years at the Public Health Foundation, she managed high-profile national initiatives for clients such as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as state and local projects that improved performance and achieved measurable results. Among these, she adapted quality improvement methods to help a large Florida county rapidly control a disease outbreak and helped build a nationwide training system that saved participating states over $11 million dollars. Over her career she has written over 20 publications and has been a highly-sought trainer, reaching thousands of professionals. She holds an MS degree in Education.
MJ Kaplan founded Kaplan Consulting in 2000 to align strategy, leadership and process to leverage innovative solutions that can be translated rapidly and effectively into everyday positive actions. MJ values the enormous diversity of her nationwide client base that includes non-profits ranging from small agencies to universities, government, businesses in numerous sectors, and multi-sector collaborative initiatives that address complex community challenges. Responding to intense competitive pressures, Kaplan Consulting is supporting partnerships and mergers that can act rapidly to seize evolving markets. MJ has been an active part of ICL since its early work in 1990. She has conducted countless workshops across the country on best practices for boards and leaders. She has guided strategic planning efforts and other tailored consulting needs for many ICL clients and works with multi-sector collaborative initiatives. MJ works in partnership with ICL’s talented staff and consulting network to add value to support environmental organizations and the community as a whole.
MJ has a B.A. from Brown University and M.Ed. from Harvard University. Prior to founding Kaplan Consulting, Ms. Kaplan held leadership roles in 2 corporate businesses, a national nonprofit and Ohio state government. She resides in Providence, RI with her husband and three children. She currently serves as a trustee for a hospital and school and has devoted extensive time and resources to pro bono work and community service.
