Shared Leadership Program This program helps leaders build effective organizations in a changing world, engage people with diverse perspectives and create successful partnerships. Shared Leadership supports participating board members and executive staff to develop the abilities they need to effectively lead and govern their groups.
Since 2002, seven Shared Leadership I workshops were offered and attended by sixty eight organizations. We are grateful to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for sponsoring the first years of this program. Where and When is this Workshop?Pendle Hill, Wallingford, PA - Late Fall 2008 - details coming soon. Who should participate?Eight organizations will be selected from conservation, sustainable agriculture and community food system organizations, and university-based institutes of environmental studies and sustainable agriculture to participate in this workshop. A team of three leaders from each organization is required. Your team will ideally consist of the executive director, a current strong leader or board member, and an emerging leader. How much will it cost?The cost for each organization will be $4750, which includes workshop participation, materials, lodging and meals,and 8 hours of follow-up coaching or consultation. Limited scholarships may also be available. The nonrefundable registration fee is $250. Each team is also responsible for travel costs to the workshop location. Cancellation Policy: For cancellations more than 30 days prior to the first workshop of a long-term program, ICL will refund the balance of tuition paid less the non-refundable application fee. ICL provides no refund for cancellation within one month of the first workshop or at any time during the course of the program. A $30 fee will be charged for any returned check. Application and Selection InformationEight organizations will be selected to provide a rich mix of diverse perspectives, strategies and experiences in agriculture, community food systems and land conservation. Program TeamBarbara Rusmore is a Senior Program Associate with the Institute for Conservation Leadership. She has a PhD in Human and Organizational Systems and over 25 years working in conservation and sustainable agriculture organizations and consulting on nonprofit program leadership and management. Dr. Peter Bloome is an Agricultural Engineer who recently retired as Associate Director of the Oregon State University Extension Service. His 37-year career included 14 years in Oklahoma, 13 in Illinois and numerous international work experiences. Peter served as the first director of, and then as an advisor to, the CAST Conversations of Change Program. Pam Mavrolas, has staffed, directed and/or been a consultant to a variety of community-based non-profits dealing with agricultural, natural resource, and environmental issues for over 28 years. Her consulting firm, Mavrolas and Associates works primarily with sustainable agriculture, environmental and arts and cultural nonprofits.
