ICL Leadership Podcast

Hosted by Kurt Thompson, our podcast series will keep you informed and connected with people in the field by featuring conversations on leadership, strategy, and collaboration.

Our Most-Recent PODCASTs

Kevin Brubaker, ICL Board Vice Chair and Treasurer, and alum of ICL’s Executive Leadership Program, recently discussed the importance of building the capacity of leaders in the conservation field. In a recent podcast conversation, he refers to investing in capacity as similar to watering your garden. When considering the impact of taking the time for building your own capacity.

Cyn Sarthou  talks with us about her role as the first Executive Director of the Gulf Restoration Network and tells a compelling story of the value of Executive Leadership, particularly her experience with ICL’s Executive Leadership Program.

In part one of two conversations, Cyn Sarthou talks openly in this podcast about her early experiences as an executive director as she was quickly learning everything she needed to understand while settling in with her new position.  In her words, “ICL’s Executive Leadership Program was transformational for both her and her organization”.

We are proud to share a conversation we had with Michael Reuter, Director of The Nature Conservancy‘s North American Water Program.  Michael Leads an initiative called America’s Watershed Initiative (AWI), a large collaborative project based in the Mississippi River Watershed uniting people, land, and water across 31 states.

In the backdrop of Coronavirus, we’ve had to pivot. Our focus is community engagement, so we’ve had to move workshops online, use different tools, and think outside the box. We do this a lot already, but the program with ICL helped me feel more confident. If this is our organization’s strength, we should keep doing it.
